Practical resources for dementia carers

 Useful material for dementia carers - the short list.

1. 'Knowledge is Power' https://www.dementiavoices.org.uk/deep-resources/knowledge-is-power/ - very useful publication; we need more of this. Nobody from the blob (NHS, Local Authority, charitocracy*) I have spoken to was aware of it despite its well-publicised launch.

* https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Charitocracy Political-Elitist 'Corporatized' Charity Organization...

2. 'Practical Support' from Carers UK/Scotland https://www.carersuk.org/scotland/help-and-advice/practical-support/ looks good. I am working on the contingency plan; very good. And a usable tool!  As regards contingency plans, check if your council supports an emergency card https://carers.org/emergencies/emergency-schemes-for-carers .

3. Rory Miller's 'Talking Them Through' https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/126643 - useful to know before the SHTF when dealing with anyone with mental health issues. A dementia supplement by someone would be a blessing - big ask.

4. Peter Beresford's  'A Straight Talking Introduction to Emotional Wellbeing' https://www.pccs-books.co.uk/authors/peter-beresford  gets you in the right frame of mind for determining how to live with mental health, and how to tackle the blob. Collectively, it sets out where we are and what is needed; if we are to have user-led, user-centred dementia care, there is work to be done.

A short list, but still a lot of stuff. Nothing more comes to mind just now. It would be nice to think I have missed something brilliant.
